# Telephone interviews are hard. To get the job at Sitepoint I had 3. The only thing I remember saying during those 3 interviews is "XML is like the fertiliser..."

# Stupidest free gift ever: I participated in a Clearswift product satisfaction survey (product: MIMESweeper for SMTP, result: satisified) for which they offered a free book "Email Security for Dummies". I got it in the mail; it looked about as big as a blog post with a cover page. The book explained how important it was to have email security and how to find email security software... thus causing an infinite loop.

# Salt & vinegar chips do not go with port.

# That is all.

I have conducted a number of phone interviews over the years. They tend to be worse at the other end, as you have to often pry intelligent answers from subjects and yet also take notes. I have had people just give up in the phone interview as the questions got harder and harder. I do think your case was a lot different however.

@Gary, It's hard work, I agree. I felt totally shagged after each one.

If it's any consolation, we knew we wanted you on board not long into the first phone call. You had me at "XML" :-)
